'It's terribly exciting': Disco queen Marcia Hines to star in Saturday Night Fever musical

She's won hearts across the nation when she made her debut at the age of 16 in the Australian production of Hair.
And now, Marcia Hines is set to take to the stage again in a new musical adaptation of Saturday Night Fever.
The 65-year-old will play the role of The Diva in the production, which premieres in Sydney from March 29.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph on Sunday, the mother-of-one revealed that the role had been written specifically for her.
'It's terribly exciting. This version of Saturday Night Fever has not been seen in Australia, only Paris so far,' she said.

Paying homage to the classic movie, Saturday Night Fever is packed with disco classics, including The Bee Gees' greatest hits Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love and Night Fever.
'The soundtrack is stunning and I'm a huge fan of the Bee Gees. If it's got Bee Gees songs in it, I'm there,' she said.

The musical tells the story of Tony Manero, a 19-year-old working-class man who escapes the harsh realities of life by spending his weekends at the local discotheque.
And Marcia can't wait to take audiences back to that period.
'The disco era was a really fun time. A little bit of bad fashion granted but just great music and a really happy time,' she said.
